Description:  A weathered GP40-2 idles with a GP38-2 high-hood on mixed freight train here in the NS West Brownsville Yard, in perfect early morning light. Seeing a non-coal freight train on this line is a major surprise. Engine 3038 is former Conrail 3347 built March 1979. Unfortunately this was painted black in August 2011.

Description:  There is nothing like the steady rumble of a GP40-2 engine plus the tell-tale high pitched sound of the Leslie air horns. Combine that with seeing something like this coming down the street, and you may feel like you are in the Conrail heydays of the 80's or 90's. This is a rather rare opportunity to see a train other than a coal drag running through West Brownsville. They were all covered hoppers. This engine is former Conrail 3347 built March 1979. Unfortunately this was painted black in August 2011.

Description:  Is this rare? Yes it deffently is! Ns 3038 has been around since Penn Central. If you notice the blue paint chipping off and the CR number. 3038 is one of the locomotives that are not conrail quality. It is just Conrail which is lucky for die heart conrail fans like me.
